Address the Tress

This weekend I wanted to ride my scooter, visit my Mom, go long boarding and hit the Esprit/Lacoste sale. I didn't do anything. An evil debilitating migraine visited me instead. I did manage to think about this post. Here are some of my favourite shampoo and conditioners for dry hair. There are so many more faves but I tried to narrow it down.

High

• Lakme: K therapy dry repair shampoo and mask
  
• Phyto: Phytosesame express replenishing conditioner
• Ojon: Ultra hydrating shampoo and restorative hair treatment

Not so High

• Joico: K-pak shampoo and K-pak intense hydrator
• KMS: Silksheen shampoo and conditioner
• Terax: Ultra moisturizing daily conditioner

Look for products with lipids and humectants in them. They will help with the frizz and leave your hair more supple. Prevention is always the first plan of action. Avoid overwashing, overdrying, overflatironing, overprocessing. Over anything. If you feel compelled then protect, protect, protect.

Prom Queen 2009

Within 2 months we enter Prom season. Teenaged girls are shopping the streets of Toronto looking to snap up a dress that no one else will be seen in. At FX Boutique and Fashion Crimes you are practically guaranteed to show up in a unique dress that all the other girls will be drooling over. If you are looking for a cutting edge style mini strapless or a classic sweeping floor length you'll be able to find it. These two stores are by far my favourite dress shops along the Queen Street West strip. If you don't know where to begin the staff are very helpful to find you the best dress for you to strut your stuff in. Be forewarned, the prices vary just as much as the style and colours.

How will you wear your hair to compliment the beautiful dress you don? Remember that hair is an accessory, just like shoes and jewelry. It is meant to adorn and embellish what you wear.

If your dress is simple and understated I recommend having only one major embellishment. Be careful with heavy earrings and necklaces that complicate things. Never wear them all at once. In other words choose one thing to stand out. Be it killer shoes, a fantastic necklace ,beautiful earrings, or a spectacular hairstyle. Of course I chose the hair. It draws attention to the face .

If your dress is more on the bling side, then you need a very simple "do". Nothing to confuse the eye and draw attention away from your bedazzled dress. Keep it simple. Such as a classic updo (see image of Hilary Duff) or wear it soft and down (check out Kate). Sometimes less is best.

When in doubt, ask your stylist. This is what we do for a living. An experienced stylist will take into consideration your dress, neckline and face shape to give you the best look to coordinate with your dress. This is, for most girls, their first time to experience a fairytale moment. I wonder how many frogs they've kissed?
