All Done Up

It's been a blusterous week. I had mentioned in the past that work has been very busy. Why? One word: prom. Including my daughters graduation. I've spent the past few days running around doing this and that for her grad. We had an unexpected dress issues that was discovered only the night before her the big day. The zipper on the back of her dress split. I frantically called Mendocino at 8:35p.m. and told them the problem. The manager was amazing. Even though I had no receipt or tags on the dress she let me come in to exchange it. We arrived 10 minutes before closing. I grabbed every dress I could get my hands on so my daughter could try them on. She found the same dress but in a different colour. Although she wanted the original colour (Egyptian blue) she settled for black. It was the fastest "shopping" I've ever done in my life. Thank goodness she already had silver shoes and accessories!

The next day was manic. There were teenage girls all over the house. Hairspray, nail polish, eyeshadow, music and giggling was in the air. It looked like a frat party for minors. Felt that way too. Of course, I the only adult could have done with some booze! In the end all the girls looked beautiful. And older. Scary. Very scary...

Grace, isn't it amazing how much older the girls look once they are all done up. I used to console parents before, but now that my own is at that age, I find I'm the one that needs to be consoled. Go figure...
